==Early years==
Charlie Lee was born in Cote d'Ivoire, where his parents moved from Shanghai. When Lee turned 13, the family moved to the United States. Lee graduated from the Lawrenceville School in 1995 and received a bachelor's degree and an IT master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2000. After training Lee worked as a programmer at Kana Communications, Guidewire Software, and Google and began his career in cryptography. On Google, Charlie Lee worked on writing code for Google Chrome.

==Activity in the cryptocurrency field==
Charlie Lee explored the cryptocurrency in 2011. Then he developed his own [[Litecoin]] cryptocurrency, which became the best version of Bitcoin: transactions became faster, the number of coins increased, another mining algorithm appeared. Charlie Lee did not want to replace [[Bitcoin]], he wanted to create a cryptocurrency that could exist in parallel and work in the [[Lightning Network]] and [[Atomic Swap]] to improve the overall ecosystem.

Lee publicly introduced Litecoin after mining only 150 coins.

In 2013, Lee leaves Google and begins his activity with [[CoinBase]], which continued until 2017. This year, he decides to devote himself entirely to working with Litecoin. At the same time, he sells and distributes all his savings to Litecoin (in the Litecoin Foundation and the MIT Digital Currency Initiative (DCI)).

Charlie Lee currently works for the Litecoin Foundation.
