How Coinbase Keeps Building with Brian Armstrong (Coinbase)

In 2010, Armstrong became acquainted with the cryptocurrency and especially Bitcoin. In 2012 Armstrong creates together with Fred Ersham Coinbase. The idea of Coinbase was to create a platform for the purchase of Bitcoin. At that time, the use of Bitcoin in everyday life and in the trade was simply absurd.

In October 2012, Coinbase began selling Bitcoin via credit cards. Perhaps Coinbase's success is due to the fact that a large number of investors once believed in it, including Union Square Ventures, Ribbit Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and the New York Stock Exchange.

  • Coinbase serves more than 10 million users worldwide.
  • Armstrong is on the 40- to 40-year Fortune list (Vitaly Buterin and Pavel Durov in the same spot).
  • He was on the 2017 Recode 100 list, with no single person in the crypto industry other than Armstrong.
